Mandatory Disclosures to Debtors
These disclosures are provided before you begin the course.
1. Fee Policy (including any certificate fees)
- Single filer fee: $19.99
- Joint filer fee (two debtors): $24.99
- Certificate fee: $0 (included; no additional charge to issue the certificate)
If you request a duplicate or corrected certificate due to a typographical correction, the Provider will reissue the certificate at no additional charge.
2. Fee Waivers / Reduced Fees Based on Ability to Pay
#1 Debtor Education Online, LLC provides access to the instructional course without regard to your ability to pay. You may request a fee waiver or reduced fee based on your lack of ability to pay.
- A debtor is presumptively eligible for a full fee waiver if current household income is less than 150% of the applicable HHS poverty guidelines for the debtor’s household size.
- To request a waiver or reduction, email support@debtoreducationonline.com with:
- household size, and
- current household income (self-attestation), and
- supporting documentation (e.g., recent pay stub(s) or benefit award letter).
- Based on the information provided, the Provider will grant a full waiver or, where appropriate, offer a reduced fee if the debtor appears able to pay a reduced amount.
3. Language Assistance for Limited English Proficient Debtors
The debtor education course is offered in English and Spanish (including course content and assessments) at no additional charge. Debtors may select their preferred language during enrollment. If a debtor requires instruction in a language other than English or Spanish, #1 Debtor Education Online, LLC will refer the debtor to another United States Trustee-approved provider that offers the requested language.
4. Instructor Qualifications
Instruction and oversight are provided by qualified instructors with education and experience relevant to personal financial management instruction. The Provider’s Office Supervisor and instructor is a Certified Public Accountant (California) and Enrolled Agent, with 6+ years of experience developing and delivering online financial and regulatory instruction.
This instructor’s teaching experience includes consumer financial topics such as budgeting and cash-flow concepts, credit and borrowing fundamentals and interest-rate mechanics, inflation/CPI and cost-of-living impacts, and practical financial decision-making under stress, delivered through online course modules with knowledge checks and a final exam.
5. Prohibition on Referral Fees
#1 Debtor Education Online, LLC does not pay and does not receive referral fees for the referral of debtors to or from any person or entity.
6. Obligation to Provide Certificate Upon Completion
The Provider has an obligation to provide a certificate to the debtor promptly upon completion of the instructional course. Certificates are delivered electronically and are made available for download through your account.
7. Disclosure of Debtor Information to the United States Trustee
The Provider may disclose debtor information to the United States Trustee in connection with oversight of the Provider, investigations of complaints, on-site visits, or quality of service reviews.
8. Scope of U.S. Trustee Review
The United States Trustee has reviewed only the Provider’s debtor education instructional course (and, if applicable, credit counseling services pursuant to 11 U.S.C. § 111(c)). The United States Trustee has not reviewed or approved any other services the Provider may offer.
9. Completion Required for Certificate
You will receive a certificate only if you complete the instructional course.
